Your Email Advantage
What’s The Advantage Of Email Marketing?
Some people consider email to be too old-fashioned, too 20th century, too stodgy to use in their business…
…but the top-earning affiliate marketers swear by it.
Why?
Reason #1: Email Is Reliable
Email is the best and most consistent way to stay in contact with the people who have shown interest in what you have to offer.
The world of pixels, messaging, and social media is constantly shifting… what works today may not work tomorrow.
Email, on the other hand, is here for the long haul.
Reason #2: Your Email List Belongs To You
Another advantage is that your email list is completely yours.
Nobody can take it away from you.
Horror stories abound where Google changed an algorithm or Facebook shut down an account – completely ruining people’s businesses.
That won’t happen with email.
You can send emails to the people on your list from now on, no matter what the big corporations decide to do.
Reason #3: Email Is Free
Other than the cost of autoresponder software, email marketing is free.
You won’t have to pay extra whenever you want to reach out again to your subscribers.
Of course it probably did cost something to get them on your list in the first place… but this expense pales in comparison with the value they can bring to your business over time.
The money you earn with email marketing is pure profit!
How To Build Your Email List
The most efficient way to build your email list is to use an opt-in funnel built in ClickFunnels*.
On the opt-in page, you promise your visitor something desirable in exchange for their email address (and their first name, perhaps).
Once they share their contact info, they see a page that shows them how to get what you promised, and they are simultaneously added to your list.
To make this work, you will need to connect your ClickFunnels account with an autoresponder such as GetResponse* to send your contacts from your ClickFunnels opt-in page to your list in GetResponse.
Email Has A Downside… It Isn’t Easy
Your emails are not the only ones competing for your subscribers’ attention…
To succeed, your emails will have to fight to be noticed, to be opened, and to be acted upon.
There is a learning curve in mastering the art and science of email marketing…
The art is the copywriting itself… the subject line… the body… the call-to-action.
The science is in the numbers, which I’ll discuss below.
Autoresponders Track Your Numbers
All of these numbers are important, but let’s unpack the first three…
Delivery Rate – This is the percentage of the emails sent out that actually landed in recipients’ inboxes.
Open Rate – This is the percentage of recipients who liked my subject line well enough to open my email.
Click Rate – This is the percentage of recipients who were persuaded to take action by clicking a link in my email.
What Can I Do About My Delivery Rate?
I’m pretty happy with 100%, but if this number were lower, I would need to employ at least the following remedies
make sure my email domain was set up correctly,
make sure my emails don’t include terms that trigger spam filters,
do list cleaning more often to remove subscribers who never open emails.
What Can I Do About My Open Rate?
My email open rate has everything to do with the subject line.
I need to keep it within the optimum length of 4-7 words.
Somehow, my subject line has to grab the recipient’s attention…
with emotion
with curiosity
with hope of gain
with humor
with expected value
because they care about the sender
What Can I Do About My Click Rate?
My email copy (the words in the body of my email), as well as the copy in my calls to action (the words in my links) must convince my reader that clicking the link is worth the bother.
Is the expected reward for clicking the link large enough to elicit the click?
These are the things that keep email marketers up at night.
Offer Value
Part of my strategy (I hope it’s working) is to provide solid training every time someone clicks a link in one of my emails by sending them to an informative blog article.
This is just one of many ways you can provide ongoing value so your subscribers will open and click!
